ABSTRACT
This study examined teachers' perceptions of using Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in teaching in selected public senior secondary schools in Katsina Central Senatorial Zone. The study aimed to: determine teachers’ perceptions about the use of ICT, and study the relationship between perceived usefulness, ease of use, and adoption of ICT among teachers. A cross-sectional survey research method was used, using a questionnaire to collect data from a sample of 585 respondents (30% of the 1,948 population). A total of 332 participants (56.75%) completed the questionnaire. Data analysis included tables, percentages, frequencies, and average scores to assess teachers' perceptions of ICT use. Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC) was used to test the hypotheses and establish causal relationships between variables at a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that teachers agreed with the constructs of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), considering ICT to be useful and easy to use in teaching and learning. However, the hypotheses indicated that there was a non-significant relationship between teachers’ perceptions and ICT use at a significance level of 0.05. Recommendations include encouraging teachers to integrate ICT into their teaching practices; conducting awareness programs to introduce current and new information and communications technologies; providing training for teachers to acquire computer, Internet, and research skills; ensuring adequate energy supply in schools through alternative energy sources.
