The study assessed the awareness and challenges hindering the adoption of Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) in some selected federal university libraries in North East Nigeria, specifically focusing on Ramat Library at the University of Maiduguri (Unimaid), Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University of Technology Library in Bauchi (ATBU), and Ibrahim Babangida Library at Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola (MAUTECH). The study aimed to determine users' awareness of OPAC benefits and their challenges hindering the adoption of the system. A survey research design was employed, targeting a population of 20,162, with a sample size of 1,217 selected using systematic sampling. A self-designed questionnaire was used for data collection, distributed to undergraduate students in the selected libraries. Of the 1,217 questionnaires distributed, 828 (68%) were returned and valid for analysis. Descriptive statistics, including frequency counts and pie charts, were used to analyze the data, with results presented in tables. The findings indicated that most respondents were unaware of OPAC benefits, and OPAC was very high challenges hindering the adoption of OPAC by users. Recommendations included organizing awareness programs each session to inform users of OPAC benefits and improving network access to encourage undergraduate students to use OPAC.
