Embracing an entrepreneurial mindset allows LIS professionals to identify gaps in service delivery, create new revenue streams and better meet the changing needs of their communities. Innovation, particularly through the integration of emerging technologies and user-centered services, is crucial in transforming libraries into dynamic hubs for learning and digital literacy. However, resistance to change and organizational inertia continue to hinder progress in many LIS institutions, risking obsolescence. The paper also highlights the opportunities for LIS professionals to lead in areas like data management and knowledge services, which require a combination of entrepreneurial thinking and technological innovation. It advocates for a reimagining of LIS education to ensure that future professionals are equipped with the skills and mindset to drive this transformation. Libraries must embrace entrepreneurship and innovation to not only survive but thrive in the digital age while not forgetting the several challenges that may hinder the implementation of entrepreneurship and innovation in library services, challenges such as resistance to change among LIS professionals, financial constraints, lack of technical expertise are significant barriers Overcoming these obstacles requires targeted professional development, strategic partnerships and leadership committed to fostering an innovation-driven culture. In conclusion, while challenges exist, libraries must embrace entrepreneurship and innovation to remain relevant and financially sustainable.
